Who Is the ‘I AM’

Moses was limited within his reality to truly know in a literal sense of the greatness of God. There is no word to define Him and God simply expresses himself as ‘ I am who I am.’

It reminds me of an adage we sometimes use, like when someone asks you why you behave a certain way, and the corporate response is ‘Well, that’s the way I am.’  without an explanation.

There is interesting because when God says it, we are left with an answer that is inconclusive because it challenges us to find out who He is if we really want to know.

God knows who He is and Moses doesn’t truly know and when you realize the context when God says it to Moses, there is a sense of mystery ‘I am Who I am.’

However, that mystery has been revealed when Jesus myself reveals, that he is the ‘I AM.’ JOHN 8:58 – “Jesus said to them. “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”

He did not say “I am Who I am.”

Who was Jesus? Jesus reveals who He is…

JOHN 14:6 – “I am the way, and the truth, and the life……”

JOHN 15:5 – “I am the vine, you are the branches……”

JOHN 11:25 – “……I am the resurrection and the life……”

JOHN 8:12 –  “…. I am the light of the world…..”

JOHN 6:35 – ” ……. I am the bread of life……..”

The answer Jesus gives is the accumulated reality of the revelation of God in the person of Jesus Christ himself.

God Bless.
