Habib ‘Umar’s “Prayers On The Beloved”
The following salawat are from Habib ‘Umar’s Prayers on the Beloved.
This book is a collection of 82 prayers, which follow an unique formula.
- Calls on Allah by one of His Most Beautiful Names
- Praises His Messenger ﷺ in a manner related to that Name
- Asks Allah for blessings related to the Name mentioned.
In this way, each of these prayers helps us to beg Allah for “such amazing things that we are generally unable to think of when asking of Him.”
Here are some examples.
The forty-eighth prayer in this collection addresses Allah by His name “al-Ahad,” translated as “the Indivisible”:
The fifty-fifth prayer utilizes Allah’s name “al-Batin,” translated as “the Knower of the hidden”:
The sixty-second salawat calls on God by His name “Dhal-Jalali w’al Ikram,” translated as “Lord of Majesty and Honor”:
These prayers may be read individually or in sequence, occasionally or regularly.
Each prayer is given in Arabic, English translation, and transliteration using the Latin alphabet.
The translator describes this book as “small in size yet great in virtue.”
